DER SHRINK SAYS IT'S THINKING CAP TIME

We lost Iran in the first place because of human rights meddling. Have vivid memories about the information campaign complaining about the Shah's inadequacies in that department which fatally undermined his regime. Recall for about a political nanosecond we thought the Hasidic rabbi lookalike Khomeini would straighten things out. We handed the clerics just enough time to take over.

The Iranian situation poses a grave risk. The new government's got real grassroots support and a coherent geopolitical vision attractive to European and Central Asian Muslims. Kvetching (Yiddish for whiny complaining) about Ahmadinejad's role the hostage mess is a pointless distraction. Highlighting his role increases his domestic political clout and prestige in the Islamic world.

The new Iranian leadership could create a Caliphate across central Asia to the Pacific, and bring Europe to its political kness.

WE MUST DEVELOP A REAL POLITIC APPROACH NOW VIS-A-VIS IRAN.
